St Petrock's appeal 'gives an insight into life on the streets in Winter'
The homelessness charity has launched it's latest fundraising campaign
A Devon homeless charity is trying to raise £40,000 to help support rough sleepers this Winter.
In the past year St Petrock’s in Exeter have worked with more than 350 rough sleepers, given out 12,000 meals, 650 sleeping bags and 2,240 packs of clothing.
Chief Exec Peter Stephenson believes this Winter has already been one of the worst in living memory, saying: "I can't remember last time it snowed this early in the year.
"It doesn't snow that much theese days does it and normally it tends to be January and February. It's been a very difficult start to the Winter."
The vast majority of the charity's income comes in as donations from the local community and Mr Stephenson said 'as we head into Advent, this might be time to spare a thought for those on the streets this Christmas and St Petrock’s life-saving work'.
This year's Christmas fundraising campaign features a video that 'gives an insight into the hardship of homelessness from the perspective of a rough sleeper'.
Mr Stephenson added: "We need money for the services that we run to support homeless people and try and get them into accomodation and provide food, clothing, sleeping bags and all the things that we do."
