Somerset County Cricket Club celebrate 150 years
It's a huge day for the side who were formed after a match between The Gentlemen of Somerset and the Gentlemen of Devon at Sidmouth
It's been a weekend of celebrations at Somerset County Cricket Club, as the side mark 150 years - and they're certainly 'not out' at that.
On this day in 1875, the side was formed after a match between The Gentlemen of Somerset and the Gentlemen of Devon at Sidmouth.
They're hosting a special 'Legends Match' today in the place where it all began.
They say that the 18th of August is the most important date in the history of Somerset County Cricket Club, and to mark it, they're hosting the game in Sidmouth, where The Men & Women of Somerset will take on The Men & Women of Sidmouth (Devon).
The Somerset team will be made up of SCCC legends including:
- Andy Caddick
- James Hildreth
- Jamie Cox
- Sophie Luff
The match will start at 5pm with gates opening at 4pm.
It follows yesterday's 150th Birthday Celebrations against Warwickshire during their game in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Sadly, it was the visitors who took the match - with Warwickshire winning 'a good game of cricket' by just three wickets.
