A serval cat's been spotted walking the streets of Plymouth - after escaping during a break-in at its home.

The big cat was seen close to the A38 on Wednesday last week (16th April), with sightings reported to Plymouth City Council.

They contacted the owner - who could be traced as the serval is the only wild animal licenced in the city.

They said the cat escaped when their property was broken into.

There's been a positive outcome though, as a Plymouth City Council spokesperson confirmed:

"We are happy to report the cat is now safely back in its enclosure – it was a bit nervous and came back on its own accord.

"We will carry out an inspection of the property to make sure it has sufficient security and all licence conditions are complied with.”
