Emergency services attend serious multi-vehicle crash on A35 near Honiton

There has been a serious multi-vehicle crash on the A35 near Honiton.

Emergency services were called to Fern Lane in Wilmington yesterday afternoon (Sunday 16 January).

Police believe that one person has sustained serious injuries.

The road was closed for several hours. A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police released this statement at the time:

"Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious collision in East Devon.

"Police were contacted at around 2:40pm today (Sunday 16 January) with reports of a collision on the A35 at Fern Lane, Wilmington, near Honiton.

"Police and ambulance are at the scene and road closures have been put in place including at White Cross, Tower Cross and Greystone.

"It is believed that one person could have sustained serious injuries and numerous vehicles have been involved in the collision; we expect the road to remain closed and request that road users avoid the area for the foreseeable future."

According to National Highways South West, the road reopened just before 10.00pm last night.
