Man has life-threatening injuries following serious collision in Exeter

Police say a cyclist and a car were involved on Tedburn Road on Saturday evening

Police have confirmed a serious collision in Exeter involving a cyclist and car has left a man with life-threatening injuries.

The 56-year-old was airlifted to Derriford Hospital on Saturday evening (25th June).

The force says the casualty's family are being supported by specialist officers.

The incident happened at Pocombe Bridge just after 6.10pm, closing the stretch of Tedburn Road for several hours.

Devon & Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw what happened to come forward, via 101.

In a statement, a force spokesperson said: "At approximately 6:10pm on the 25th of June 2022 Police were notified of a road traffic collision between a cyclist and a car on Tedburn Road, Pocombe Bridge, Exeter.

As a result of the collision a 56 year old male suffered serious life threatening injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital. His next of kin is aware and is being supported by the Police.

The road was closed whilst officers from the Roads Policing Unit and Forensic Collision Investigation examined the scene.

The Police are appealing to witnesses to come forward quoting reference number 730 of the 25th of June 2022".
