A man is in hospital following a potential serious hit and run in Torquay.

Police were called by hospital staff yesterday morning (Sunday 3 October), after paramedics brought him in the day before.

They believe his injuries are consistent with being run over - with the victim being covered in tyre marks.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Shortly before 0911 hours on Sunday 3 October 2021 police were notified by staff at Torbay hospital of a male patient bought into them by SWAST, who they believe has injuries consistent with being run over.

"They state that the male was admitted on Saturday and he appears to have been involved in an RTC, potentially a hit and run, the victim being covered in tyre marks.

"Local officers, as well as officers from the Alliance Operations Department attend and conducted an initial investigation."
