A plaque honouring Prince Andrew on the wall of Torquay Police station has been removed - following a complaint

The plaque was installed on the station in 2001 by the Royal, but has now been taken down following complaints from the public.

The royal faces a civil sex trial later this year accused of allegations of sexual abuse - which he denies.

Assistant Chief Constable Jim Nye said: “Following a complaint we received from a member of the public, a decision was made to move the plaque from public display.

"The recent removal of Prince Andrew’s military affiliations and royal patronages were also taken into account when making this decision.”
