Just weeks after Exeter Pride was cancelled, the team behind Plymouth Pride are crowdfunding to stage their event.

Plymouth Pride is trying to raise £30,000 to hold their celebration at a new location in Central Park on Saturday the fifth of August.

The Exeter Pride was called off due to a shortage of funds and volunteers.

Alex Macdonald, Chair of Plymouth Pride CIC “We have been blown away from the positive feedback we have had about our plans from members of the public and businesses.

"The event will showcase Plymouth as an inclusive, diverse, and accepting city and we hope as many people as possible will help us host Plymouth Pride 2023.

"Donations via the Crowdfunder will directly support the costs of hosting the event and several rewards are available, including LGBTQIA+ workshops, limited edition Plymouth Pride bag and areas of the event site itself.

"The rewards start from just £5 in the hope that members of the public and local businesses will want to show their support and donate."

The Crowdfunder opened on Friday 7 April and has already generated almost £300 in donations. It will close on Friday 2 June.
