Police update amid serious crash in Torquay

They say they have located a person who was being sought in relation to the incident

Devon and Cornwall Police say they have located a person who was being sought in relation to a crash in Torquay over the weekend.

The incident happened on Sunday night (March 16), with officers called to reports of a collision involving a red Vauxhall Astra and a building on Teignmouth Road, Torquay at around 9.55pm.

Police, Southwestern Ambulance Trust, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue and Devon Air Ambulance all attended the scene.

We're told a 45-year-old local man sustained life-changing injuries, and was taken to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, where he remains in a critical condition.

In an update today, officers have confirmed that a 32-year-old man from Torquay was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

We're told he has been released on police bail to return on Monday 16 June, pending further enquiries.

A second person, a woman, who was being sought in relation to this incident, has been located and has spoken with officers.

She suffered minor injuries.
