A police presence is currently at the Castle Road area of Torquay.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called just after 8pm last night (Friday 20 January) following concerns for the welfare of an individual within the property.

Officers attended and a cordon has been put in place with specialist officers talking with the individual.

They say they have managed to safely remove other residents of the multi-occupancy property linked to this incident.

Police say the goal of the officers at the scene is to bring this matter to a safe resolution whilst they provide the upmost care to the individual.

Therefore, they will continue to keep the area secure and engage with the individual as they try to get them the help they need.

Officers are asking that the public give them the space they need to work.
