Police appeal following Exeter crash

A man has sustained serious injuries, including broken ribs and a collapsed lung

Police are asking any witnesses of a crash in Exeter to come forward.

A motorcyclist has sustained serious injuries following the three-vehicle collision on Topsham Road yesterday morning (23 April)

The road was closed in both directions while officers carried out an examination of the scene.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Police are appealing for information after a motorcyclist sustained serious injuries following a three-vehicle collision on Topsham Road, Exeter, at 11am on Thursday 22 April.

"The incident occurred at the junction to Barrack Road and involved a Volvo HGV, a Neco Alex-One moped and a Skoda Yeti.

"South West Ambulance Service, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue and Devon and Cornwall Police attended and the rider of the moped, a 66-year-old man, was taken to Derriford Hospital with extensive injuries including broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

"Topsham Road, at Barrack Road, has been closed in both directions while officers conduct an examination of the scene."
