The Theatres Trust have released a list of 43 UK theatres that are threatened by closure with 2 in Plymouth making the list.

Globe Theatre Plymouth and Plymouth Palace are just two of the names on their 2025 risk register.

The risk register has listed theatres that could be affected due to severe structural or safety issues or redevelopment proposals.

Many names on the list are significant theatres will historical and cultural importance.

Plymouth Palace is known for its Victorian architecture but is in need of serious renovations.

The Globe Theatre was previously a racquets court at the Stonehouse Barracks and permanently converted to a theatre in 1831.

Theatres Trust, the national advice and advocacy body for the UK’s theatres says the theatres could remain valuable community spaces if given the right support.
