Plymouth Pride cancelled for 2025
Organisers say it's due to lack of funding and volunteer support
Plymouth Pride has cancelled the summer event planned for 2025.
In a statement organisers say:
"It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of Plymouth Pride 2025, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday 12th July 2025 on Plymouth Hoe.
Despite our best efforts, the lack of national and local funding, alongside a decline in volunteer support, has made it impossible to deliver the event this year."
Plymouth Pride is run entirely by a small group of volunteer directors, but the organisers say this group has reduced in size each year. This year, there are simply too few people involved to dedicate the necessary time and energy around their regular jobs.
Despite repeated public calls for help, very few people have come forward.
Financially challenges are also sighted with the organisers saying the event costs £33,000 to run.
So far with sponsorships, traders and food & beverage income and a small crowdfunder which raised £180, Plymouth Pride say they only have £21,444, leaving them with a deficit of over £12,000.
They go on to say that this year they also applied for National Lottery funding in hopes of securing additional support, but unfortunately were unsuccessful. This is despite having previously been awarded £10,000 from the Lottery, which went towards Plymouth Pride 2023 and 2024.
Plymouth Pride have thanked all their sponsors and supporters and say they are looking to the future.
They want to keep the event free and sustainable, and say they need significantly more support—both financially and through volunteer participation. They say without increased sponsorship, community donations, and volunteers, the future of Plymouth Pride is at serious risk.
Despite the cancellation of the main event, they say they remain committed to keeping Pride alive and hope to organise fundraising events throughout the year.
