Border Force save crew onboard 'suspicious' boat on fire at Devonport

Three crew members were rescued from the ship.

Border Force were met with a different sort of visitor on Tuesday (4th March), after they intercepted a boat on fire.

Maritime Officers stopped a 'suspicious vessel' heading for Devonport in Plymouth, before being called into action to help save the crew.

They tackled the blaze and rescued three members on board.

Smoke could be seen from the boat as it sailed towards Coxside.

No injuries have been reported.

A spokesperson for the Home Office said: “Our Border Force Maritime officers successfully intercepted a suspicious vessel offshore, where they tackled a blaze on board and rescued three members of crew."
