Ahead of the final game of the season for Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (3rd May), there's some advice for supporters from Devon and Cornwall Police.

It's expected to be extremely busy around Home Park for the match against Leeds United.

Argyle's opponents have already confirmed promotion, and have a sold out away end.

But it's believed thousands of ticketless Leeds fans are also due to make the journey south as their side look to become champions.

Plymouth were effectively relegated last weekend, due to other results.

Devon and Cornwall Police will have officers will be deployed in readiness for the 12.30pm kick-off.

Drinking around the stadium

The Britannia Inn JD Wetherspoon pub - the closest to Home Park - is strictly for home fans only, with ticket checks carried out on the door.

There are no away drinking venues near to the stadium.

Visiting supporters are advised that the away end at the stadium will open from 9.00am with food and refreshments available.

Alternatively, there are a number of licenced premises in the city centre that are a 25 minute walk from Home Park, however many of these will not be open at that time of morning.

The city centre is linked to the area around the stadium by bus with taxis also available.

Advice for home supporters

Plymouth Argyle have released advice reminding supporters that it is a criminal offence to enter the pitch, and that those who chose to do so may risk potential prosecution.

Due to the volume of Leeds fans expected in Plymouth, the club has implemented an outer ring to aid security.

Fans are advised to allow extra time to enter the stadium.

Any Argyle supporters who breach terms and conditions when selling tickets outside the club’s approved ticket resale method, risk having their ticketing account suspended.

Superintendent Emma Butler-Jones said: “We are expecting a large number of Leeds United fans in Devon as they hope to celebrate the league title.

“There will be a larger than usual police presence around the stadium to ensure that supporters of both teams are able to enjoy the match in a safe environment.

“Fans without tickets are advised to stay away from the stadium area as they will not gain access.

“There are no pubs for away fans within walking distance of the stadium, but visiting supporters will be able to gain access to the away area several hours before kick-off.

“We hope all supporters enjoy the game.”
