Person seriously injured in "industrial incident" at Babbacombe Cliff Railway

Police remain at the scene of an "industrial incident" at a cliff railway in Devon.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Babbacombe Cliff Railway in Torquay yesterday morning (Sunday 4 September).

One person has sustained serious injuries.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called by the ambulance service to reports of an industrial incident at a commercial premises in Torquay at around 10.10am on Sunday 4 September.

"One person is reported to have sustained serious injuries.

"Emergency services remain at the scene and the Health and Safety Executive has been notified."

A cordon is in place and the Babbacombe Cliff Railway remains closed.

Babbacombe Cliff Railway operates two cars, which carry passengers on a funicular railway between Oddicombe Beach and the Babbacombe Downs.
