A person is in hospital after a fire at a property in North Devon

Fire crews recue someone from a blaze in North Devon.

They've been taken to hospital following the incident on Saturday June 5.

Firefighters from Torrington and Bideford attended the scene.

It involved cooker on fire at a property on Clovelly Road in Bideford, and is thought to be accidental.

"Earlier this morning, fire control received a call reporting the smell of smoke and alarm sounding from a neighbouring property.

"2 fire engines from Bideford and 1 fire engine from Torrington were quickly mobilised to the address. On arrival, crews reported smoke issuing from the property.

"Crews made entry into the property and found a fire involving a cooker.

"Crews extricated one casualty from the property and then extinguished the fire using four breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, and one safety jet.

"The casualty was conveyed to hospital via land ambulance. The fire is believed to be accidental."
