Devon and Cornwall's Police and Crime Commissioner has joked the forecast wet start to the Easter Bank Holiday weekend will likely result in lower crime levels.

The Exeter based Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain for later today and into tomorrow and Alison Hernandez says that can reduce pressure on the emergency services.

She reflected: "We often use a term called 'PC Rain' when the crime goes down, as rain often helps us down here in Devon and Cornwall.

"What's really interesting is that we sort of joke because when it's really raining a lot of our street attached people and some of the anti-social behaviour we see from young people and old people tends to die down - but when the sun is out everyone is out."
