Pay deal agreed after talks - following strike ballot by workers
Workers will be an improved pay deal at Plymouth-based Princess Yachts
Around 1,200 workers at Plymouth-based Princess Yachts are to get a 6-and-a-half per cent pay rise.
It follows a strike ballot by the union UNITE, with some of the lowest paid workers now getting up to £3,000 a year more.
The union say it follows meaningful discussions with the company.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “This is a huge victory for the Princess Yachts workers, who by sticking together in their union and voting for strike action forced the company back to the table. This is yet another example of how Unite’s absolute dedication to improving jobs, pay and condition is paying dividends for our members.”
The workers voted in favour of industrial action during a ballot that closed on 6 August. No strike action took place or was scheduled due to successful negotiations with the company.
Unite regional officer Mark Richards said: “This deal could not have been achieved without the hard work and dedication of Unite’s workplace representatives. This goes to show that those wanting better wages and working lives should join Unite and organise their colleagues to join too.
