Pair admit 'dealing with cultural objects' after plaques stolen from Ilfracombe war memorial

Both men will be sentenced next month

Two men have admitting to dealing with cultural objects after bronze plaques were stolen from a war memorial in Ilfracombe.

They were arrested on Thursday after the plaques were discovered.

North and West Devon Police say the plaques are being returned to the memorial.

Jason Vickers, 43, of Barton Tors in Bideford, and Ben Pearsall, 39, of Fore Street in Torrington, appeared before Exeter Magistrates Court on Saturday, and pleaded guilty to dealing with cultural objects.

Both men have been remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Exeter Crown Court on 12 February.
