Man charged with attempted murder following serious assault in Paignton

A man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a woman in Paignton.

47-year-old James Taylor appeared at Plymouth District Magistrates Court on Monday (31 May).

A woman was found seriously injured in the early hours of Friday morning (28 May) - she remains in a stable condition following the serious assault.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"A man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a woman in her 40s in Paignton.

"James Taylor, 47, of Paignton, appeared at Plymouth District Magistrates Court on Monday 31 May.

"He is next due to appear at Exeter Crown Court on Thursday 1 July.

"Officers and paramedics were called to an address in Torquay Road just before 1am on Friday 28 May and found a seriously injured woman.

"The victim remains stable following the serious assault."
