Yellow weather warnings of wind and rain remain in place in Devon, following reports of a mini tornado in Tipton St John, near Sidmouth.

The Tornado and Storm Research Organisation confirmed in a post on X, that the tornado had hit on Saturday (30th December).

Local residents took to social media to describe the severe weather conditions, with one person saying it was "as if the heavens had opened".

Photos have also been shared online of a 150-year-old oak tree, being split in two in the village.

Alongside damaged trees, there are reports of power cuts, damaged roofs and torn down fencing.

Though the village appears to have seen the worst of it, poor weather conditions are set to continue into Tuesday (2nd January), with heavy rain on saturated ground likely to cause travel disruption.

The warning means flooding on roads and in homes is still possible and large waves and spray can be expected on the coast.
