New project helps local men with clothes for job interviews
Suited to Help was started by local woman Jodie Clarke during lockdown
During lockdown, a local woman has set up a project, to support unemployed men in Plymouth access free clothes for interviews.
Jodie Clarke is currently running 'Suited To Help' from her home, with the aim of improving people's confidence and reduce barriers to employment.
Jodie said: "We started it because we saw a gap. There didn't appear to be anything in the South West that was providing this service.
"People have lost their jobs during COVID and there are a lot of people that have had to claim benefits.
"Buying clothes can be expensive and it's a large chunk out of benefits that you may have on a weekly basis. We have seen a need.
"Job interviews are nerve-wracking enough. If you feel and look good, that's a good start because first impressions do matter.
"We've had some amazing donations come in. Some beautiful suits, some lovely shirts and brand new shoes.
"We want to be proud to support our community, that's what it's all about."
