'My challenge isn't over yet' says fundraiser max

Despite camping in his garden for almost a year, an 11 year old boy from Devon has told us he'll probably stay in his tent until October.

Max Woosey's raised more than £150,000 for North Devon hospice and been sent messages of support by Bear Grylls and Jonny Wilkinson.

After Sunday he'll have camped for 365 nights, after starting on March 29, 2020 and Mum Rachael says he doesn't want to stop.

She says the current JustGiving page will last for 18 months so that could potentially be an end date.

The 11-year-old boy is encouraging other children to do the same this weekend.

Max Woosey, from Braunton, started the challenge for his local hospice after they cared for his friend and neighbour Rick, who died in February 2019.

Max says: "They looked after our friend and enabled him to pass peacefully at home with those closest to him which was his final wish. Sadly most of the fundraising is now cancelled or closed due to Covid 19 so they are missing out on vital funds.

"Rick gave me his tent before he died and made me promise to have an adventure so that’s what I’m doing."

This Saturday (27 March), he wants others to join him by camping outside in their gardens, to celebrate getting through a year of lockdown and restrictions.

He is calling the event Max's Big Camp Out, and you can find more information here
