Man sustains serious injuries following crash in Exeter

A road in Exeter is closed following a serious collision.

It involved a motorcyclist and a lorry - and the man on the motorbike has sustained serious injuries.

Motorists are being advised to avoid Topsham Road near Barrack Road, which is shut in both directions.

The incident is ongoing, and any witnesses are being urged to call police on 101.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Police were called at 11am with a report of a collision between a motorcyclist and a lorry on Topsham Road, Exeter.

"Topsham Road is closed in both directions near Barrack Road, motorists advised to avoid the area for some time.

"A male motorcyclist has sustained serious injuries.

"Incident ongoing.

"Witnesses please contact police on 101 or via email, 101@dc.police.uk quoting log 278, 22/4/21."

INRIX is currently reporting: "A3015 Topsham Road both ways blocked, slow traffic due to serious accident between Burnthouse Lane and Matford Lane. The accident happened at the junction with Barrack Road, which is also blocked. Near Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital."
