Man suffers life-changing injuries in Paignton chemical attack

Five people have been arrested and bailed

A man's suffered potentially life-changing injuries after a suspected chemical attack in Paignton.

Police say the man in his thirties was approached by two men at around 1.10am on Thursday 21st November in the Victoria Street area, and a substance was thrown over him.

He remains in a critical condition in hospital.

A 46-year-old man from Paignton has been arrested on suspicion of applying a corrosive fluid with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A man and a woman, both aged 44 and from Paignton, have been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

A 43-year-old woman from Paignton have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

A man, aged 22, from Paignton have been arrested on suspicion causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

All have been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

Police think all the people involved knew each other, and extra police patrols are taking place.
