Fire crews from Dartmouth and Paignton were called to Hoodown Lane in Kingswear just after 930pm.

They found a driver with his foot on the brake, who was unable to move it in case the vehicle tumbled down the bank.

They used a winch to tow the vehicle back to safety.

A spokesperson for Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue said: "One Fire Engine from Dartmouth and one from Paignton, were sent to a report of a car that was stuck in a precarious position on the edge of a bank.

"On arrival crews confirmed that there was one male still in the car with his foot on the brake to stop the vehicle from tumbling down the bank.

"Crews used a winch and tyre blocks to recover the vehicle to a safe position, then the driver who was unharmed, was able to exit the vehicle."
