Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Plymouth

It follows a man being seriously injured with a bladed weapon on Tuesday

A man's been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a stabbing in Plymouth.

Police were called at around 2.30pm on Tuesday 25 June to Taunton Avenue following reports that a man had been assaulted with a bladed weapon.

The man in his 30s sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment - he's recovering from his injuries.

A 31-year-old man from Plymouth is in police custody.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of assisting anoffender. They have both since been released without further action.

A cordon was put in place at the scene while initial enquiries and searches took place, which has since been removed

Detective Inspector Kev Morley said: “We understand theconcern that this incident has had on local residents.

“The public can expect to see a heightened police presencein and around the Whitleigh area while further searches are carried outtoday, Thursday 27 June.”
