Man arrested after young girls report being approached in Plymouth

A man's been arrested following reports of young girls being approached by a stranger in Plymouth.

A 34-year-old man from Ivybridge was arrested this morning (Thursday) on suspicion of attempting to cause or incite a girl to engage in sexual activity and is currently in police custody.

Officers were called to Millbay Road on Monday evening (September 11).

Police say the reports received related to young girls in the area being approached by a stranger who had made inappropriate comments and had asked them to commit sexual acts on him.

Detective Sergeant Chris Kinski said: “We are very aware of the distress this has caused to the victims and their families but also the concern this has caused to the wider community.

“We are committed to ensuring the streets of Plymouth are safe and women and girls should be able to walk in public without the fear of being sexually harassed.
