A major road near Exeter has reopened after a lorry became 'wedged' under a bridge.

Emergency services were called to the A377 Alphington Junction this morning (Tuesday 7 December) with reports that a vehicle had struck a bridge.

As a result, the westbound side of the A30 was closed, with traffic being diverted via the roundabout.

The latest update from INRIX says: "A30 Westbound re-opened, traffic easing, earlier bridge strike by vehicle at A377 (Alphington Junction). Previous congestion to Pathfinder Village as traffic comes off the A30 to head into Exeter.

"A lorry had struck the A30 on the northern side of the Alphington Junction roundabout, resulting in the A30 Westbound closed and diverted via the roundabout, cameras show the road has re-opened."
