Firefighters from Newton Abbot have been working to tackle a blaze in Kingsteignton in the early hours of this morning.

Crews were called around 05.30 am to reports of a fire in a home.

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire And Rescue Service tell us that "all occupants of the property had evacuated safely prior to the arrival of the Fire Service".

In a statement, D&SFRS say "Crew made steady progress to extinguish the fire and began cutting away affected areas to check for fire spread".

The fire was put out within a few hours, and we're told that the cause is believed to have been accidental from a log burner which caught alight.
