'I'm back for another go' says fundraiser Chris as Swim 365 challenge enters second year

One of the co-founders of the Brixham-based Swim 365 charity challenge has joked it has become a little 'Forrest Gump esque' after he returned for a second year and new people took on the mantle by joining him.

Earlier this year Chris Thomas and a friend finished their daily sea swims to raise money for two charities and Chris has now returned to the water again with another 11 fundraisers.

Chris says he now truly appreciates what Devon has on its doorstep - and all those involved are careful to check weather and tide information and only swim in areas where it is safe.

He said: "There's so much that we've got going on. I've swam with seals, dolphins sharks.

"As we got to the end of our year, our challenge expanded and we had enquiries from other people wanting to do the challenge.

"The natural progression was for other people to take on the same challenge - and that's what happened."

Chris says the local coastline is 'beautiful' because of 'the marine diversity that we have'.

He added: "We have lots of conservation projects that go on around the bay.

"The seal project is one that we sponsor and support. The seagrass that we have in the bay is a magical thing.

"It's a super important resource that we need to really look after and protect."

Those signing up to the daily challenge decide which causes they will support.
