After more than 400 people signed a petition, campaigners say they'll keep fighting for the future of a Devon ambulance station.

The lease of the site at Paignton is running out with no alternative site yet found.

Bosses say that ambulances are dispatched from jobs or 'in the community' rather than always returning to base first - and so it won't impact patient safety or response times.

But former MP Kevin Foster, who is behind the campaign, says the pressure must continue, adding: "News the ambulance service is considering alternative arrangements is welcome; but the campaign must keep going until the future of Paignton’s Ambulance Station is secured and a plan for its future is confirmed.”

"Residents, business and all those concerned about the potential loss of Paignton Ambulance Station can sign the petition to “Save Paignton Ambulance Station” by following this link:

Speaking recently, a spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: “We lease the site where Paignton Ambulance Station is located, and we were recently informed by our landlord that they intend to sell the building.

“We have not been given a confirmed date of when we need to vacate the site, so we are currently looking at alternative arrangements.

“Our ambulance resources respond to patients from within the community, rather than from a station, this means they are better located to help support the needs of all residents across the region.”
