Huge rocket highlights 'opportunities in the local space sector'
The replica rocket will be in Plymouth city centre for the coming days

A 72-ft model rocket arrives in Plymouth today for the UK Space Agency's Space for Everyone' STEAM tour.
It will remain at The Piazza until October 2 and 'aims to captivate and educate the next generation, showcasing the UK's flourishing space industry and the diverse array of career opportunities available'.
The event - aimed at children from nine and above - is free to attend and there's no booking required.
A spokesperson said: "The ‘Space for Everyone’ tour will serve as a beacon of inspiration, shedding light on the pivotal role that space plays in enhancing life on Earth. Visitors, including children, families and teachers will have the unique opportunity to witness first-hand how space technologies benefit our daily lives and gain insights into the continuous efforts to explore the great unknown."
Matt Archer, Director of Launch at the UK Space Agency, said: "We’re delighted to bring our Space for Everyone tour to Plymouth so young people and their families can learn not just about space, but also about the vibrant space sector and the exciting career opportunities available in the field.”

Councillor Sally Cresswell, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills said apprenticeships at Plymouth City Council, said: “It’s not every day that a rocket arrives in the city centre! We’re delighted to host the final stage of the UK Space Agency’s ‘Space for Everyone’ tour in Plymouth. This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to learn more about the exciting range of opportunities there are in the space sector, including roles with some of our local employers. I’m really pleased that ten schools and community groups have already signed up for the bookable sessions, with more than 400 children aged five to sixteen set to enjoy this truly out-of-this-world experience, and look forward to seeing many more coming along to explore over the weekend.
