The Royal Navy's HMS Montrose has seized nearly two million pounds' worth of heroin in the Middle East.

The frigate, which is based at Devonport, made the seizure while conducting a sweep of the Gulf of Oman.

The Navy says it's the fourth blow to drug traffickers there in as many months. It brings Montrose’s haul since mid-January to £97m of illegal narcotics.

And it means more than 18 tonnes of drugs have been kept off the streets of the UK since she began operating in the Middle East in January 2019.
