Work placements and mentoring schemes are being rolled out across Devon for those who've grown up in care.

It's part of a re-skilling programme - which has a guaranteed job interview - for anyone in the county aged 19 or over.

Devon County Council has officially launched the sixth year of its flagship Train4Tomorrow Skills Bootcamps programme, offering over 2,000 adults in the region a unique opportunity to upskill or retrain for in-demand jobs.

Councillor Cheryl Cottle-Hunkin, Cabinet Member for Rural Affairs and Broadband, says: “We know there are employers across Devon crying out for skilled workers, particularly in the early years sector, where nurseries, preschools, and childcare providers are facing critical shortages, and this impacts not only families but the wider economy.

"Train4Tomorrow directly responds to these gaps by equipping local people with the tools to succeed and regional businesses with the talent to grow. This is more than training, it’s a powerful investment in Devon’s economic future.”

There are over 60 'skills bootcamps' on offer such as regenerative farming, project management, digital marketing and aircraft engineering skills.
