The death of a man who fell from the Tamar Bridge yesterday is not being treated as suspicious by authorities.

Police were called yesterday morning around 10:45 as there were ‘concerns for the welfare’ of an individual, despite efforts to bring him to safety.

Emergency services arrived at the bridge at 11am to find that the man had fallen, pronouncing him dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and a file is now being prepared for the corner.

All lanes of the A38 at Tamar Bridge were closed until midday.
