Work to get rid of mould from council-owned housing in Mid Devon's been awarded.

The ASCP Safety & Compliance 2024 Awards took place on 12 June, and saw Mid-Devon Council winning the ‘Best Response to Damp and Mould’ award.

Over the past seven years, the council's taken a number of steps, including improved data collection, ventilation and residential heating.

It comes ahead of what's been called Awaab's Law, which means stricter measures on tackling mould, following the death of two year old Awaab Ishak from mould in his home in Rochdale.

Rosie Wills, Technical Support & Repairs Manager at Mid-Devon Council, said:

“By actively involving tenants and making best use of the expertise of our long-standing staff, we are confident in our ability to stay true to our mission of providing safe, comfortable homes for our residents.

“We would encourage all MDH tenants to fill out our damp and mould survey which will provide an invaluable opportunity to address concerns.”
