Girl aged 11 airlifted to hospital suffering life threatening injuries in South Devon collision

An 11 year old girl's in hospital with life threatening injuries following a collision in South Devon.

A 39 year old woman also sustained life threatening injuries in the same incident in Paignton yesterday afternoon.

The pedestrians were hit on Windmill Road, a black BMW and a white Peugeot were also involved.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

"Police investigating a road traffic collision in Paignton on Wednesday 15 September at around 3.40pm are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"Officers and paramedics were called to a collision involving a Black BMW, a white Peugeot and two pedestrians in Windmill Road, Paignton.

"As a result of the collision one of the pedestrians, an 11-year-old girl, sustained what were described as life threatening injuries.

"The other pedestrian, a 39-year-old woman, sustained life changing injuries.

"The girl was airlifted by the Devon Air Ambulance to Bristol Children’s Hospital and the woman was taken to Bristol Southmead Hospital.

"The driver of the BMW, a 54-year-old woman, was treated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries.

"Local police, as well as officers from the Alliance Operations Department attended and conducted an initial investigation.

"Officers were joined by Forensic Collision Investigators who conducted a forensic examination of the scene.

"The police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, has any information or dashcam footage which could help the police with their enquiries.
