Devon's Shaldon Zoo say they're honoured that one of their volunteers has made the shortlist to find England's 'Tourism Superstar'

Geoff Rose is up against nine others nationwide who're said to go the extra mile to make holidays - or visits - memorable.

The competition is part of ‘English Tourism Week, which takes place from Friday 17 March.

Tourism is one of England’s largest and most valuable industries, supporting hundreds of thousands of businesses, employing about 2.6 million people and, in 2019, generating £76 billion in domestic visitor spending.

2023 will be the eleventh year for VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar competition.

The campaign recognises and celebrates those in the industry who go the extra mile to ensure tourists in England have an amazing and unforgettable visitor experience.

A spokesperson for the competition said: "Geoff will look for ways to promote the zoo, actively advertising it to anyone who will listen. He has recently allowed us to have a fundraising day using his coach driving skills to have a day out to a Christmas market. He is driving for free and negotiated the cost of the coach, to allow us to raise funds. This day out would not have been possible without him."
