Gas supplies restored to 83% of affected properties in South Devon

Gas supplies have been restored to 83% of the properties affected by a gas outage in South Devon.

4,600 properties in Kingsbridge, Malborough and Salcombe were were without supply after damage to a gas main on Saturday (January 3). .

Wales and West utilities said engineers continued to visit properties throughout the day and any properties left without supply are mainly those they have not bee able to access due to people not being there.

The company added that details have been left for the owners of these properties on how to arrange for an engineer to restore the supply.

Devon County Council have urged carers and friends who may have taken in vulnerable people affected to help them as they begin to return to their homes.

Wales and West Utilities said they are demobilising engineers from the area but will retain a presence over the coming days to help those who may return home and still need supplies restored.
