Former police officer charged with misconduct in public office

A former serving Devon and Cornwall Police officer has been charged with misconduct in a public office.

James Stillman, a 31-year-old from Chard, Somerset, is charged with misconduct in public office for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a vulnerable female while on duty.

He previously appeared in court, on 13 September 2025, charged with sexual assault on a female and misconduct in public office.

The further charge of misconduct in a public office relates to a different female victim.

All of the charges relate to his time as a Devon and Cornwall Police Officer.

Stillman has also previously served as a Special Constable with Avon and Somerset Constabulary.

Following the reports made to police regarding his conduct, Stillman was arrested and suspended from duty after his initial arrest.

Mr Stillman is due to appear at Exeter Magistrate's Court on Monday (February 9).
