Former Devon and Cornwall police officer pleads guilty to stalking
He's due to be sentenced on September 17.
A former constable who repeatedly looked up a woman on police systems has pleaded guilty to stalking and misconduct in public office.
Kevin Davis, an ex-Devon & Cornwall Police constable, pleaded guilty to two charges at Exeter Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Davis, 41, of Seaton, repeatedly messaged the woman, approached her at a gym, and searched for her on police systems 24 times over three months, including while on annual leave.
District Judge Stuart Smith said Davis would be sentenced on September 17.
Warjinder Bains, speaking for the prosecution, said: "He was a serving police officer at the time.
"He made repeated unwanted comments on her social media posts and repeatedly asked her out in January of this year before turning up at her gym and trying to speak to her."
She said the repeated contact had made the victim feel "vulnerable and unsafe".
"The defendant used his position as a police officer to look her up on the police system to, in effect, spy on her, accessing the system also on his off-duty periods, including when he was on annual leave."
The judge said they were "very serious offences" and ordered a pre-sentence report to be written ahead of sentencing.
Davis was granted bail, with the condition that he must not contact the complainant.
