Flood warnings in place in the South West after heavy rainfall

It follows stormy conditions being forecast for the region.

Flood warnings have been issued across parts of the South West after heavy rainfall has been forecast.

The Environment Agency is urging residents to "act now" in certain parts like Devon and Somerset, where water levels are predicted to remain high

Eleven flood alerts have been issued as well with 10 in Devon and one in Western Cornwall.

These are the following flood alerts:

  • River Avon at South Brent, Avonwick and Aveton Gifford
  • River Avon from Didworthy to Aveton Gifford
  • River Dart from Buckfastleigh to Totnes including Staverton
  • River Yeo from Yeoford to Fordton
  • River Exe at Winsford and Bridgetown

The following are flood alerts which have been issued:

  • Exmoor Rivers
  • Lower Torridge area
  • Upper Tamar Rivers
  • Lower Taw area
  • North Dartmoor Rivers
  • River Teign area
  • River Dart area
  • South Devon area
  • River Yealm
  • River Plym and Tory Brook
  • West Cornwall Rivers

Locals are being urged to avoid any flooded paths or rivers.
