Five people seriously injured in Newton Abbot crash

It involved one vehicle and all those involved have been taken to hospital

Police are appealing for information following a crash in Newton Abbot, where five people were seriously injured.

It happened yesterday morning (11 May) on the southbound carriageway of the A380 at Mamhead Cross, and involved one vehicle.

All of those involved were taken to separate hospitals for treatment.

The road was partially closed for a time whilst investigations took place.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Police are appealing for information about a one-vehicle collision on the A380 near Newton Abbot yesterday, Tuesday 11 May, during which five occupants of a car were seriously injured.

"The incident involved a maroon Peugeot 207 and occurred at around 10.30am on the southbound carriageway at Mamhead Cross.

"Five occupants were taken to Torbay, Derriford and the Royal Devon & Exeter hospitals for treatment.

"The road was partially closed while forensic work was undertaken, and the vehicle recovered.

"Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or was in the area at the time and saw the vehicle prior to the incident, as well as motorists with relevant dashcam footage."
