Fire open day cancelled over parking concerns
The brigade hopes to reschedule its open event for next month
Today's open event at the headquarters of the Devon & Somerset Fire Brigade has been cancelled - and could now be rescheduled for next month.
Bosses say the recent heavy rain has impacted the parking fields at the headquarters near Exeter.
Nicola Bottomley, Area Manager for Prevention, Protection and Risk, said: “Unfortunately, due to all the wet weather, we are unable to guarantee that the field that was going to be used on Sunday will be suitable for parking.
"This means we simply cannot accommodate the volume of people expected at the open day and so we have had to take the difficult decision to postpone. We’re really sorry for any disappointment.
“We were all looking forward to seeing so many of you on Sunday, but our priority will always be keeping people safe. We’re planning to reschedule for next month and will share the date once it’s confirmed.”
