Fire crews to blazes across Devon over the weekend
Six fire engines have been tacking a fire on agricultural land in one of the incidents
There have been even more fires across Devon over the weekend.
In one incident, we're told that six fire engines have been tacking a fire on agricultural land, shortly after 3pm yesterday afternoon (18 May).
It affected farm buildings measuring 60 by 40 metres - which were destroyed - with dramatic images of plumes of smoke being shared on social media.
Crews at Shebbear said: "Multiple calls were received into Fire Control around 15:11hrs this afternoon to report an agricultural fire in the area of Shebbear.
"Two fire engines and a water bowser were initially mobilised with Fire Control mobilising additional fire engines to attend due to information from the further calls received.
"Upon attendance from the first fire engine, fire crews made up for more appliances; taking this to a total of 6.
"Update at 18:26 Range of farm buildings measuring 60 metres x 40 metres involved in fire - crews damping down and steady progress being made.2"
With the final details at 10pm, they added: "Agricultural buildings 60 metres x 40 metres 100% damaged by fire.
"Two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one compressed air foam jet and one thermal imaging camera used."
Whilst there has also been a fire at a derelict school in Plymstock Dunstone.
It happened yesterday evening - and four fire engines attended the scene.
Smoke could be seen rising from what used to be the sports hall.
Crews added: "Fire Control received multiple calls reporting a fire in a derelict school and mobilised one fire engine from Greenbank, Plymouth and one fire engine from Camels Head, Plymouth.
"On arrival crews quickly requested a further two fire engines to attend for additional personnel and confirmed that smoke was issuing from a single storey building measuring 20 metres x 10 metres, these were mobilised from Greenbank and Crownhill.
"At 19:15 the final details were confirmed as a fire in a single storey derelict school measuring 20 metres x 10 metres, the fire was located in the central sports hall area.
"Crews used two breathing apparatus, one safety jet and positive pressure ventilation fans to clear the smoke."
