Police are appealing for information following the death of a man from Exeter, who was involved in a crash in Dorset.

Emergency services were called to the A3066 near South Dibberford Cottage, Beaminster yesterday afternoon (Sunday 10 October).

The incident - reported to police at 1.05pm - involved a white motorcycle and the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The road was closed to enable emergency services to attend the incident.

Police Sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the motorcyclist who very sadly died.

"I am appealing for any witnesses to the collision who have not yet spoken with police to please come forward.

"Also, I would like to hear from anyone who observed the manner of driving of the motorcycle leading up to the incident and any motorists who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

"Finally, we are aware that the road closure greatly impacted the traffic in this area and I would like to reassure motorists that this was absolutely necessary to allow emergency services to safely respond to the incident and thoroughly examine the scene."
