Devon MP Mel Stride among Rishi Sunak's Resignation Honours
The Shadow Chancellor is to be knighted
Central Devon MP Mel Stride and former England cricketer James Anderson have been awarded knighthoods in Rishi Sunak's resignation honours list.
The current Shadow Chancellor is among those on the list to receive recognition.
All former Prime Ministers have the chance to nominate people for honours when they leave office.
Sir Jimmy Anderson, who retired from test cricket in July having taken more wickets than any fast bowler in test history, is joined on the list by a number of Tory politicians who received peerages and knighthoods.
Former education and housing secretary Michael Gove was confirmed to have been given a seat in the House of Lords after being heavily tipped for a peerage.
Jeremy Hunt, the chancellor in Mr Sunak's cabinet, and ex-foreign secretary James Cleverly were awarded knighthoods.
The Honours List in full:
The former prime minister who quit after losing the general election in July 2024, has nominated seven people to receive life peerages and 29 people to receive other honours.
Rishi Sunak is also the MP for Richmond and Northallerton.
