Devon man dies after vehicle overturns

Emergency services were called to the scene in Dunsford yesterday afternoon

A 76-year-old man from Exeter has died following a crash in Devon.

It happened in Dunsford yesterday (14 April) afternoon, and the road was closed for around 6 hours.

The man was pulled from the vehicle - which had overturned - and was given emergency CPR.

He sadly did not make it and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Shortly after 2:30pm on Wednesday 14th April 2021, emergency services attended Reedy Hill in Dunsford, Devon, on report of an overturned vehicle.

"Upon arrival, a Ford Transit flatbed was found on its side, and a 76-year-old man from Exeter had been removed and emergency CPR was being conducted by members of the public. The Air Ambulance attended and despite everyone’s best efforts, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"The road was closed for approximately 6 hours while police investigations took place, and a complicated recovery of the vehicle was undertaken."

Police are currently investigating the cause of this incident and are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information, to contact 101 and quote log number 505 of the 14th April 2021.
